Kathmandu, Sept 19: Electricity worth over Rs 5.09 billion was exported during the month of Bhadra.
According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), a total of 565,606,443 units of electricity were exported to India and Bangladesh during this period. The electricity was sold through bilateral agreements and the electricity exchange market.
More than 421.6 million units were sold for over Rs 3.64 billion under bilateral agreements, while exports exceeding 143.9 million units via the exchange market generated revenue of Rs 1.4499 billion.
The NEA stated that electricity exports to Bangladesh have currently been halted after structures at the Chilime and Trishuli hydropower stations sustained damage due to floods in the Bhote Koshi River.
