सडक अवरुद्ध भएपछि भैरहवामा दर्जनौँ बस रोकिए
Rupandehi, September 28:
Continuous rainfall triggering landslides along various highways and road sections has severely disrupted long-distance transportation services operating from Bhairahawa. Dozens of buses bound for destinations such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, Baglung, Beni, and Janakpur remain stranded at the Siddharth Bus Park after operations came to a halt.
While buses typically run on regular schedules toward Kathmandu and Pokhara under normal conditions, services have been heavily impacted over recent days due to the blocked roads. Sanjeev Rokka, Chairperson of Siddharth Public Transport Pvt. Ltd., stated that the road blockades caused by heavy rains have completely stalled revenues for transport operators. “With vehicles unable to operate, income has dropped to zero. However, regular expenses such as staff salaries, bank installments, and other overhead costs must still be met,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Chand of the Rupandehi District Police Office informed that traffic across various road sections has been disrupted due to the rain. According to him, police personnel are continuously monitoring road conditions and traffic operations.
Long-distance vehicles departing Bhairahawa were halted after movement was impacted by landslides and flooding along key road segments, including the Prithvi Highway, Siddhartha Highway, and BP Highway. With major festivals approaching, the road blockades have left both passengers and transport entrepreneurs severely affected. Additionally, Indian freight vehicles entering Nepal via the Sunauli border point have also been stranded at various locations due to the obstructions.
