ऐतिहासिक कोटगढी
Bhojpur, September 28
Kotgadhi, an area of historic and cultural significance located in Pawadung Rural Municipality of Bhojpur, is gradually developing into a tourist destination following conservation efforts and infrastructure enhancements. The rural municipality has been developing this area with the objective of utilizing the potential of domestic tourism to strengthen the local economy.
To further reinforce the religious and cultural heritage of the site, a temple alongside a foot trail has been constructed within the Kotgadhi premises. According to local residents, the completion of these structures has led to an increase in the inflow of internal tourists, religious devotees, and history enthusiasts. Local resident Santosh Koirala stated that the conservation and development work has helped highlight Kotgadhi’s identity, providing the younger generation with an opportunity to learn about local history, culture, and heritage. He added that establishing additional infrastructure, resting places, and promotional initiatives in the coming days could establish Kotgadhi as a major tourist destination in Bhojpur district.
To ensure convenient access to the Kotgadhi area located near the rural municipality center, the municipality previously constructed a stepped foot trail accessible from two directions, supported by a budget of NPR 3.5 million and a 20 percent contribution in local voluntary labor.
Vice-Chairperson of the rural municipality, Jyotsna Rai, stated that given Kotgadhi’s historical importance, the local government has placed special focus on preserving the site while integrating it with tourism development. Similarly, Chairperson Kiran Rai shared that the municipality has adopted a policy to identify and systematically develop promising religious, historical, and tourist sites across Pawadung in an integrated manner, expressing confidence that preserving historic sites like Kotgadhi will significantly contribute to local tourism promotion.
