Continuous rainfall from September 25 to 27 has severely affected the Nisikhola and Tamankhola areas. According to data from the District Administration Office, floods and landslides have swept away 61 houses and livestock sheds in the district, while 51 houses sustained partial damage.
A total of 51 houses and 10 sheds in Baglung were swept away by floodwaters. Twelve people have lost their lives due to the floods and landslides, while one person remains missing. Erosion by the Daramkhola stream washed away the ward office of Galkot Municipality–9. Additionally, three suspension bridges were swept away and two police stations suffered partial damage.
According to Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Acharya, two hydropower projects, one school, one resort, and one agricultural farm sustained damage. Furthermore, 256 livestock animals were lost and 215 chickens died.
In Nisikhola–4, 20 mud-and-stone houses and two concrete houses were completely destroyed, leaving 11 houses at high risk. Four livestock sheds were completely destroyed in landslides, while one shed suffered partial damage. The district administration reported damage across various areas of Nisikhola, Tamankhola, Badigad, and Kathekhola Rural Municipalities, as well as Dhorpatan, Galkot, and Baglung Municipalities.
In Tamankhola–3, Dhamaska, two houses were completely destroyed. In Badigad–9, Khallechaur, 16 houses were completely damaged and 14 houses partially damaged. In Ward No. 8, Bhimgithe, three houses were partially damaged and two sheds were damaged.
In Dhorpatan–7 and 12, three houses were completely destroyed and one house was partially damaged. Chief District Officer Acharya informed that eight houses were completely destroyed in Tamankhola–4, Santar, while three houses suffered partial damage in Nisikhola–1.
Similarly, in Galkot–1, Phairosot, floods completely destroyed two concrete houses, three mud-and-stone houses, two hotels and resorts, and one shed. In Baglung Municipality–3 and 9, two houses were partially damaged. In Kathekhola–1, 2, 6, and 7, one house and four sheds sustained damage. Among those who died in the disasters, three were from Tarakhola, five from Nisikhola, and four from Tamankhola. Police Chief Phanindra Prasai shared that one woman remains missing in the Tamankhola landslide.
Relief Provided by Nisikhola Rural Municipality
Nisikhola Rural Municipality of Baglung has distributed relief funds and assistance to the disaster-affected families. Chairman of Nisikhola Rural Municipality, Surya Bahadur Gharti, stated that immediate cash and food assistance were provided following human and material losses within the local unit.
The rural municipality categorized affected families based on those who lost family members, those whose homes are at full risk, and those at partial risk before distributing financial support. According to the rural municipality, relief was provided at the rate of Rs. 50,000 per deceased individual, Rs. 30,000 per family facing complete loss or risk, and Rs. 10,000 per family facing partial risk.
Cash relief of Rs. 50,000 each was handed over to five families of the deceased, while 24 families whose homes were destroyed received Rs. 30,000 each, and 21 families whose homes suffered partial damage received Rs. 10,000 each. A total of five people died in Nisikhola due to floods and landslides, 24 houses were completely destroyed, and 21 homes remain at high risk. In addition to financial aid, rice and tarpaulins were also distributed.
