Nepali runner Mukesh Bahadur Pal has established a new national record in the men’s 5,000-meter race at the 20th Asian Games.
According to the National Sports Council (NSC), Pal completed the 5,000-meter distance in 14 minutes and 03.61 seconds, breaking the previous record held by Rajendra Bhandari.
Bhandari had set the earlier national record of 14 minutes and 04.89 seconds during the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Pal finished ninth among the 18 runners participating in the event at the ongoing Asian Games.
