Transport management offices under Karnali Province have collected over NPR 350 million in revenue during the fiscal year 2025/26 (B.S. 2082/83). According to Arjun Kumar Bam, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development, a total revenue of NPR 350,843,590 was collected through the transport offices located in Surkhet, Jumla, and Rukum West.
At the district level, the Transport Management Office in Surkhet generated the highest revenue, amounting to NPR 295,609,410. Secretary Bam further detailed that the Jumla office collected approximately NPR 20 million, while the Rukum West office generated NPR 35,791,650.
Vehicle tax served as the primary driver of revenue generation, accounting for 87.46% of the total revenue collected. Additionally, driving licenses, vehicle registration, and renewal fees contributed 10.94%; administrative penalties, fines, and forfeitures accounted for 1.48%; and other administrative service charges made up 0.21%.
The ministry stated that it remains committed to strengthening revenue collection and administrative management while ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery across the transport sector. (RSS)
