Lamjung, September 21. Manavsewa Ashrama, which has been providing service from a rented house for years, is now preparing to move into its own building. A target has been set to complete the remaining work of the structures being constructed in Pakhathok, Besisahar Municipality-9, and shift the ashrama into its own building by the upcoming Mangsir. Various structures of the ashrama are being constructed on a total of 13 ropanis of land located in Pakhathok.
So far, a separate building for isolation (ekantabas), a four-bed health treatment building, and an office building have been constructed. The office building has a meeting hall that can accommodate about 15 people and separate rooms for the secretary, accountant, and coordinator.
According to the ashrama’s coordinator Anita Adhikari, service will be operated from the new building after completing works such as the residential building, compound, and gate. Additional expenses will be required for that. “To bring the currently constructed structures into full use, the remaining work must be completed,” she said. In the residential building, a target is set to prepare structures capable of accommodating 70 people, comprising 35 women and 35 men.
Out of the total 13 ropanis, 5 ropanis of land were provided free of cost by Bal Sapana Samaj to Manavsewa Ashrama. Five ropanis of land have already been transferred in the name of the ashrama, while the remaining 8 ropanis of land are in the name of Bal Sapana Samaj itself. That 8 ropanis of land is also being utilized by the ashrama for usage. The construction of the ashrama’s own building began from the year 2078 BS. So far, Rs 40,576,428 has been spent on the construction of the building.
For the construction of the building, Rs 13,127,853 was received from the provincial government, Rs 8,475,095 from the local level, Rs 7,459,983 from the individual and institutional sector, Rs 9,782,810 from the Mahayagya (religious ritual), and Rs 6,914,687 from the central office of Manavsewa Ashrama.
During the course of construction, the ashrama also had to face various challenges. Construction was affected due to the impact of COVID-19, lack of financial resources, and landslides. The ashrama stated that about Rs 25,000,000 was spent on landslide control.
According to the long-term plan of the ashrama, structures capable of serving about 100 people will be prepared. There is a plan to construct a playground for children, a recreation and day-care center, and a cowshed that can accommodate four cows on the premises. Currently, the ashrama is providing service from a rented house located at High School Chowk, Besisahar Municipality-7. Currently, there are 23 people in the ashrama, including nine men, 13 women, and a seven-year-old girl. Their age ranges from seven to 74 years.
Since the establishment of the Lamjung branch on Chaitra 12, 2073 BS, 63 people under the protection of the ashrama have been reunited with their families. Likewise, 24 people have passed away in the ashrama itself. The ashrama has stated that after the completion of its own building construction, the service of the ashrama will be further systematic and expanded.
