Kathmandu, Sept. 23: The Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) has held discussions with the Department of Customs on the damage suffered by the automobile sector following the recent floods in Rasuwa and other areas.
A NADA delegation led by President Surendra Kumar Upreti met Director General Yam Lal Bhusal on Wednesday and briefed him on vehicles imported from China that were swept away by the floods at the Rasuwa border.
NADA urged the government to implement relief and support measures for affected automobile importers at the earliest, particularly ahead of the Dashain business season.
NADA General Secretary Milan Babu Malla said more than 500 vehicles were stranded on the Chinese side of the border due to the closure of the China border customs point. He urged the authorities to facilitate the reopening of the border. NADA also sought action to resolve the issue affecting the import of 11-seater electric minibuses.
