Kathmandu, September 25: Continuous rainfall has disrupted transportation along several major highways in Bagmati Province, with landslides blocking or prompting the closure of the BP Highway, Prithvi Highway, Narayangarh–Muglin road and Kanti Lokpath.
The BP Highway has been blocked by landslides at Charsaybesi in Roshi Rural Municipality-7 and Gimdi in Roshi-8 of Kavrepalanchok. Due to the risk of further landslides and flooding, traffic along the Kavrepalanchok section has been restricted from 5 pm to 5 am until the morning of September 28. Authorities said daytime closures could also be imposed if conditions worsen.
In Chitwan, the Prithvi Highway and Narayangarh–Muglin road have been closed until further notice following landslides and the risk of additional incidents caused by continued rainfall. More than 14,000 vehicles normally use the Prithvi Highway and over 10,000 travel along the Narayangarh–Muglin section each day.
Meanwhile, landslides at three locations along the Lalitpur section of Kanti Lokpath have disrupted transport services operating between Hetauda and the Kathmandu Valley. Authorities have urged travelers to check road conditions before setting out and remain alert in flood and landslide-prone areas.
